We all want to love our lives. If you don’t love your life, you can’t truly be happy or satisfied. We desire happiness and health for ourselves and for our families. And when we are genuinely happy, we can give away that happiness to others as well.
But so many of us don’t love our lives. We trudge through the day, waiting for the weekend, waiting for a relationship, waiting for a new job, waiting for a new situation.
We wait for happiness, rather than taking it for ourselves.
What can you do to love your life starting today? What can you do to grab and hold your happiness once and for all?
- Smile.
A single smile can change the way you view things. Laugh at a bad joke. Dance along to the music in the coffee shop.
Smiling signals to your brain to release happy hormones, so you’ll actually start to feel happier. Your smile will also warm and brighten the atmosphere to others, spreading the happiness around. This can build a community of joy and love that surrounds you.
- Create a self-care routine.
Take time to celebrate yourself. What makes you feel good? Going for a walk? Taking a bath with an at-home facial? A foot rub from your loved one?
Spend a few minutes every day to take care of your body and soul. This will help you revitalize and refresh, which can give you a greater appreciation for life. “Me time” can help refill your tank so you’re happy, positive, productive, and energetic.
Loving life starts by loving your body. Show yourself love and you’ll have the energy to love the world around you as well.
- Go outside.
We wake up, get ready, go to work, come home, eat, and go to sleep. We go through the “grind” without seeing the beauty around us. We’re always hurrying here and there, constantly “commuting” to the next thing.
This can create feeling of loneliness, even if we’re surrounded by thousands of people. We start to build a bubble around our own busy life.
Go out and see the world. Go for a walk in nature. In fact, studies have shown that spending time outside actually improves life satisfaction and happiness. You can better appreciate nature and the world around you, which also gives you a greater appreciation for life.
Spend time with friends. Meet new people. Being social helps you realize how many unique and interesting people are in the world. Socialization is also good for your physical and mental health and wellness.
