Cooling and Calming Peppermint

Hello,

This is Martha Thomas, head of customer care for Tree of Life Beauty, and I want to welcome you to our weekly newsletter where we discuss important ways to age gracefully, “how-tos” for keeping skin healthy as you age, and so much more about your skincare regimen.

This week we will discuss “Cooling and Calming Peppermint” If you missed any of our past newsletters, please check them out on our blog.

Are you looking for a way to calm your nerves, ease sore muscles, and boost the overall look of your skin? Look no further than the calming, cooling properties of peppermint oil.

An essential in your essential oils cabinet, peppermint is one of the most widely used aromatherapy scents because of its ability to relieve stress.

Peppermint Oil 101

Peppermint is a hybrid herb, crossed between watermint and spearmint. Although there are significant benefits in peppermint leaves, there are even more phenomenal benefits found in peppermint oil. Peppermint oil is the leave’s extract, which means that it is more potent and concentrated.

Skincare Benefits of Peppermint

Peppermint contains menthol, which gives it that tingling and cooling feeling. Because of this sensation, your skin actually “tingles” awake, helping dull skin to brighten and become more vibrant.

Peppermint is also a great moisturizer and the more moisturized your skin, the happier and more radiant it is! (Peppermint is especially wonderful at healing dry and cracked lips, which is why you’ll find it in a lot of lip balms.)

How To Use Peppermint

Topical Creams

Peppermint oil can be found in natural and organic creams, toners, and moisturizers. Our Matrixyl Cream has peppermint oil as a way to help encourage smoothness, hydrate dry skin, and brighten skin vibrancy.

Note: Although you can also apply some peppermint extract directly on to your skin, some brands are too potent to be applied without dilution. Check the label to ensure that the product is safe for topical use. We recommend using a product that incorporates peppermint oil as an ingredient, along with other natural helpers, to safely and effectively deliver a boost to your skin.

Tea

Peppermint tea has no caffeine, and it is a great way to de-stress after a long day. It helps the body and mind to relax in unison, creating a restful sleep. And we know how important rest is to the beauty of your skin!

Aromatherapy

One of the most common uses of peppermint oil is in aromatherapy. A few drops of the oil in a diffuser, bathtub, or even on the wrists can create an instant sense of relaxed calm, putting the mind and body at ease.

Try our Matrixyl Moisturizer with peppermint oil to see these benefits for yourself!
