Are you comfortable in your own skin without makeup?
Makeup can be a huge hassle, but it’s something a lot of women rely on daily.
Consistent makeup wearing is time-consuming and expensive. It can also be damaging to the skin by clogging pores and seeping into the deeper layers of your skin. Over time, this can lead to dull skin, acne and more.
So how can you get that natural, photo-finish look every day even without makeup?
Below we go through how to give the appearance of makeup with natural makeup-free ways.
Instead of cover-up…
Have a good skin care routine.
Cover up can actually do more harm than good, especially on acne. Pimples are pores that are clogged with dirt and bacteria. Oftentimes, that bacteria comes from consistent wearing of heavy makeup.
If you continue to put cover-up over your zit, you’re introducing more bacteria into that pore. This can make the zit redder, angrier, and deeper.
So forget the cover-up, and opt for natural ways to zap that zit fast!
The simplest way to avoid acne is with a consistent skincare routine. Cleansing in the morning and evening is the best way to clear out pores, removing the gunk that causes acne. We recommend our Vitamin C cleanser for deep cleaning and a Vitamin C toner for an antioxidant-rich, refreshing feel.
P.S. Never touch or squeeze your breakouts—that will only make them worse. If you can’t get rid of acne on your own, consult a dermatologist.
Get sleep.
You really do need your beauty sleep!
Another common use of cover-up is under the eyes to minimize dark circles and fine lines. Bags under the eyes are almost always a direct cause of not sleeping enough or a lack of hydration.
Your body, including your skin, repairs itself while you sleep. This helps lessen dark circles and slow down the aging process.
Remember that the eyes are the windows to the soul, so sleep until your eyes are bright and shining.
Instead of highlighter…
Highlighter is used to accentuate the key features of your face, like the cheeks, jawline, and brow bone. But you don’t need an actual highlighter to create a striking appearance.
Drink water.
Water is essential to every function of human life—including keeping your skin cells healthy and hydrated. Drinking water helps flush out toxins that can cause acne and wrinkles. It also plumps the skin cells to create a fuller, livelier look that minimizes the appearance of wrinkles and under-eye circles.
Exfoliate.
Exfoliation helps to remove dead skin cells and revitalizes the skin’s production of fresh, healthy cells. An excess of dead cells on the skin leads to clogged pores, blackheads, acne, and pimples. It also causes dull, tired-looking skin.
Exfoliation helps remove these cells to instantly enliven the brightness of your face. It also creates a blank slate so your serums and moisturizers can absorb into the skin more effectively.
Exfoliate with a facial scrub once or twice per week for instantly bright, radiant skin—no highlighter necessary!
Instead of foundation…
The purpose of foundation is to even out skin tone and remove the look of acne, marks, or wrinkles. It gives a pore-less appearance that makes the skin appear flawless.
Massage your face.
A gentle face massage every other day will help create that toned, seamless glow. Massage tightens skin and reduces the appearance of fine lines. It also improves blood circulation leading to more radiant skin.
Massaging actually creates a more toned appearance of the face, making your foundation unnecessary.
We recommend massaging your face while applying a moisturizer, like a Matrixyl Cream.
Apply a night cream.
You can also massage a night cream into your face. At night, your skin is naturally renewing itself. Using a strong nighttime serum or cream is a great way to help amplify this process, so you can wake up with unbelievably gorgeous skin.

TIP: Sleep on a silk pillowcase. Silk is more resistant to allergens, and it’s less likely to harbor bacteria that can spread to your skin. You should also try to change your pillowcases at least once a week.
Use serums.
The skin absorbs nearly 60% of what’s put on it. So, putting a good serum is a fast and effective way to get gorgeous, foundation-less skin in no time!

Instead of blush…
Workout.
Exercise has immense benefits for physical and mental health—as well as skin health. Working out improves oxygen throughout the body, which pushes more oxygen to the skin. This creates a youthful, radiant effect. Exercise also boosts endorphins to help get rid of stress that could be causing fine lines or wrinkles on your face.
Working out also boosts blood circulation to your skin. This produces a natural redness that will have you glowing, smiling, and throwing out your blush palette!
Instead of mascara…
Use an eyelash curler.
Mascara can irritate your eyes if used frequently enough. This is especially the case if you share mascara tubes or reuse mascara wands too frequently. This can introduce bacteria into the eye, which can lead to irritation and infection.
An eyelash curler is a great way to add a little oomf to your lashes without mascara. It pulls your eyelashes up and out to create long, luscious, and voluminous looking lashes without adding any chemicals to your sensitive eyes.
Instead of lipstick…
Use a sugar scrub.
You can exfoliate your lips to create a revitalized, reddish appearance. Exfoliation will remove dead skin cells while boosting blood circulation, which enhances redness. You’ll have instant, natural lipstick in no time.
We recommend a sugar scrub. Apply this with your ring finger, moving in gentle circles. This will remove dead skin without damaging the sensitive lip skin. You can also use an old toothbrush dipped in water or coconut oil for quick exfoliation.
After exfoliating your lips, apply a natural balm to reintroduce moisture back into the lips for a full, plump look.
